A safety, then a stand

Miles College's October 3 homecoming game finished with a 9-6 victory over Lane at Sloan-Alumni Stadium. Tre Jones blocked a punt out of the end zone for a safety, giving the Golden Bears the lead in the fourth quarter.

The Golden Stars came back

WVTM 13's October 3 coverage gives the homecoming a cultural frame beyond the score. Reporter Camden Morris describes the Purple Marching Machine's anniversary and the return of some original Golden Stars, the band's auxiliary group, who celebrated and danced.

The report also follows alumni reflecting on Miles' academic and athletic growth. Alongside the Golden Bears' narrow win, the returning Golden Stars gave the homecoming a visible connection to the band tradition alumni helped build.
